It started early! I had to leave for the airport about 4:30 and the first leg of my flight was at 6:30. I secured an aisle seat on this flight, and I was pleased until I realized how much I would have loved to watch the sunrise out the window. I settled for leaning a bit, watching through a small crack between a brother and sister sitting next to me. The sunrise was gorgeous out the window as we ascended into the clouds. I asked the little girl next to the window to snap a photo for me. It isn't the greatest, but she tried.
Once I met up with my sister at the stopover, we hopped our connecting flight into Hartford. We checked into an even-better-than-we-expected hotel close to the airport where we are spending our first night. We enjoyed an excellent BBQ lunch at a famous restaurant recommended by the woman at the front desk. Bear's Smokehouse didn't disappoint. After a tiny 30 minute rest and a change of clothes, we drove out to Southborough, Massachusetts to visit with some family we hadn't seen in a really long time. Aunt Barbara and Uncle Arthur welcomed us with glee and prepared a spread, New England style! Giant cocktail shrimp, clam chowder, lobster salad, and several other fixins filled the table. Our cousins also came, Wendy with her beautiful twin girls, and Lisa with her husband Rob and her oldest daughter Leah. We sat around, caught up, took some photos, and ate. It was just delightful.
Tomorrow we're off to see some more cousins on the way to the Bershires. For now, I'm off to bed.
